About the Yard

Decades of Local Knowledge. A Yard Full of History.

Wilson's Salvage Yard sits on Flora Avenue in Cabarita, a small river town near Mildura in north-west Victoria. It has been accumulating for decades — not by design, but by the natural pull of someone who sees value in things others discard.

The yard holds an unusual mix: scrap metal and structural salvage alongside pieces that belong more properly in a museum — ornate ironwork, old machinery, architectural fragments from demolished buildings, and items that simply defy easy categorisation.

The owner is a knowledgeable and down-to-earth presence, with a long memory for the region's built history. The collection reflects that — it is not curated for sale so much as preserved out of genuine interest.

This is not a business in the conventional sense. It is a place where Victoria's material past continues to exist.

Cast iron, wrought iron, steel and non-ferrous metals — some in raw form, others still bearing the marks of their original purpose.

The yard is located at 66 Flora Avenue, Cabarita — a small community on the Murray River, roughly 30 kilometres south-east of Mildura in north-west Victoria.

Cabarita sits in a stretch of the Murray Valley that saw significant settlement and agricultural development through the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Much of what the yard holds reflects that history.
